BPD is a challenging and complex illness that occurs in relationships and wreaks havoc to the sufferer as well as their loved ones. The sufferer experiences various symptoms that include impulsivity, intense and unstable relationships, anger management problems, fear of abandonment, suicidal behaviours and an intense shift in moods (Mondimore Kelly, 2011). The sufferer also exhibits a set of symptoms that are categorized in five areas. These include interpersonal abnormality, emotional abnormality, cognitive abnormality, self-abnormality and cognitive abnormality.The challengesBPD is one of the mental illnesses that are widely met with a lot of understanding. The disorder presents itself in over 200 different ways and it ra rely stand alone. The disorder co-occurs with other disorders that include eating disorders, major depression, anxiety disorders, substance abuse and bi-polar disorder. Furthermore, another disorder is often diagnosed instead of BPD due to its confusing and co-occurrence nature (Mondimore Kelly, 2011). Sufferers also face disruptions in the ability to observe social norms or even change their behaviours leading to broken or distrust in relationships. The medications also present another major challenge as most individuals are usually on six or more different medications at the same time (Mondimore Kelly, 2011).
